Franklin Park Cultivated
Spring 2018 Harvard Graduate School of Design Core II Critic: Sylvia Benedito This project is sited in Franklin Park, a large park in Boston designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. Franklin Park sits between three distinct neighborhoods, each with their own unique identity- yet the park itself seems to be alien to all three. Dominated by a large zoo and a golf course, the spaces in between feel like a blurry backdrop to these highly programmed spaces rather than their own unique environments. My design seeks to turn the park into a platform for community engagement through processes of cultivation and cooperative use. Large scale plazas that engage each neighborhood edge and draw visitors in to a central valley of allotment gardens.
